THE MORNINGTON PENINSULA & WILSONS PROMONTORY, VICTORIA

LYN MELLADY & JULIE GOLDSPINK Pastel & Watercolour Workshop
The Mornington Peninsula in Victoria is brimming with so much to see and paint. On the workshop you will enjoy
painting the unique beach boxes, ocean beaches, vineyards, stately historic homes and gardens, cafes and markets. We
will also get to enjoy the gourmet food, speciality shops and coastal walks of this beautiful part of Victoria. Your art time will be
extensive, guided by two of Australia’s well known, prizewinning artists and experienced tutors who are ready to guide you through their
own neighbourhood. You can paint, draw, sketch or photograph this beautiful area or just enjoy the demonstrations and company.

     

About Your Tutors: Lyn Melladyartist, best known for her sea and landscapes in pastel and oil, trained
teacher, tutor to many artists on the eastern coast, 5x paintings in government collections, member of Fusion
six portrait artists, art judge and ex AGRA president who established the Australian Art Excellence Awards with
the support of Terri Dodd and Australian Artist in 2000.
 
Julie Goldspink – artist, travels frequently to workshops Australia wide. Tutoring in watercolour and mixed
media, with extensive knowledge in most mediums. She loves to paint land, rivers, sea or flowers – wherever
the light falls. Featured on Graeme Stevenson’s Put Some Colour in Your Life. Her most recent article was published in the Australian Artist Magazine
in March 2016.
Both artists will be on hand to assist with their specialised knowledge in both mediums and give demonstrations and helpful insight not only to the
subjects you will paint but also the areas you will visit daily. There will be several starter kits available for anyone wanting to try a new painting medium.



Day 1: Wednesday April 19, 2017 Sorrento

Workshop members will be met at Melbourne airport at 1.00pm
and transferred to the workshops hotel,
located on the shores of Port Phillip on the Mornington Peninsula.
Explore the Sorrento shopping village or the beautiful Sorrento beachwalks.
We will enjoy an included welcome dinner this evening.

Day 2: Thursday April 20, 2017 Sorrento

A full day of painting in beautiful Sorrento. Lyn and Julie
will each give a short instructional demonstration which
will highlight different approaches to the subjects to paint.
We will enjoy a picnic lunch followed by further painting.
Regular critique sessions will be held throughout the tour.

Day 3: Friday April 21, 2017 Sorrento

Today we will travel to the Sorrento surf beach, to catch the
and wave actions in contrast to the bay beaches. Sorrento offers
cliffs and pools and will be a delight to paint. After lunch we
will travel toRosebud and sketch the boats on a smooth bay.

Day 4: Saturday April 22, 2017 Mornington

This morning we enjoy painting at one of the beautiful
vineyards on the Mornington Peninsula. We will have lunch
at Noel’s Gallery in Red Hill followed by a demonstration
at the gallery by Lyn and Julie in comfort. We continue to
the Tanti Mornington Hotel for seven nights.


Day 5: Sunday April 23, 2017 Mornington

Today we travel to Hastings Marina and paint the yachts,
reflections and pelicans. Lyn and Julie will paint a
demonstration and assist workshop members individually.
We will have a critique session in the afternoon.

Day 6: Monday April 24, 2017 Mornington


Today we will paint the famous beach boxes on the Bay.
Lyn and Julie will give a lesson on the features of the
scene (drawing and perspective pointers) and then provide
individual tuition. Tonight we will enjoy an included dinner.

Day 7: Tuesday April 25, 2017 Mornington

A day of painting at Coolart Wetlands. We will sketch and
paint the birds and historic home and gardens.

Day 8: Wednesday April 26, 2017 Mornington
Today we travel to the Mornington Markets. Lyn and Julie
will help you capture all of the colour and excitement of
market day. We will sketch and paint the people at the
markets, there will also be time for you to wander through
the market. This afternoon we travel to the Mornington
Peninsula Regional Gallery.

Day 9: Thursday April 27, 2017 Mornington

A day of painting at Schnapper Point Mornington, which has
beautiful views of Mornington Pier, Mother’s Beach and
cliffs and beach boxes. The afternoon will be free to paint,
browse shops or local attractions.

Day 10: Friday April 28, 2017 Mornington

We visit The renowned Gordon Glass Studio Center. We will
then visit the beautiful Momtalto Vineyard and enjoy
an included lunch and a walk through their sculpture gardens.
You have the choice of painting orenjoying the surroundings.
We will return to Mornington via Arthurs Seat,
the highest point on the Peninsula where the new chairlift
has reopened. When we return to the hotel we
will view our work done on the Peninsula before we head to
Wilsons Prom the next day.

Day 11: Saturday April 29, 2017

Wilsons Promontory

Today we travel to Wilsons Promontory. You will be awed
by Victoria’s largest coastal wilderness area in Wilsons
Promontory National Park. Wilsons Promontory is a refuge
for an array of native wildlife including kangaroos, emus,
wombats, echidnas and vividly plumed birds like rosellas.
The “Prom” will be a delight to paint. On arrival you will be
free to explore, sketch or take a walk further into the Prom.
In the afternoon we travel the short distance to the town of
Foster, our base for the next three nights.

Day 12: Sunday April 30, 2017

Wilsons Promontory

Another day of painting in Wilsons Promontory National Park,
one of Victoria’s most-loved places. At the southernmost tip
of mainland Australia, it offers spectacular scenery. Today
we travel to Tidal River and paint or photograph the iconic
coloured rocks along the shallow, reflective stream with
white sand and the Ocean in the distance.

Day 13: Monday May 1, 2017

Wilsons Promontory

Our last day of painting around Foster and Wilsons
Promontory. The Prom has many places to paint, from
Whisky Beach white sand and huge boulders to forest walks
with abundant birdlife. In the afternoon there will be a final
critique session with our farewell drinks followed by an
included farewell dinner to celebrate our time in Victoria.

Day 14: Tuesday May 2, 2017

Departure

Tour members will be transferred to Melbourne airport to
meet your flights departing after 2.00pm.
