John ran his own graphic design business for many years with some major accounts specialising in the areas of product and technical illustration, corporate identity, packaging and general advertising material.
With his background in illustration and drawing, he has built up a fine reputation over many years for portraying Australian and New Zealand historical subjects, mainly in pen and wash and has exhibited in galleries in Australia and New Zealand. Joined the Australian Guild of Realist Artists in 1974.
John also works as an illustrator and cartoonist and has produced work for the Sydney Bridge- Climb and both the Milford and Routeburn Track walks in New Zealand.
Works mostly on commission but has had occasional one-man shows in Melbourne. Represented: Wollongong City Gallery; Hinton Collection of New England Regional Gallery and many corporate institutional and private collections in Australia and overseas.
John still enjoys his easily recignisable watercolour and pen paintings of historical buildings but has recently changed the focus of the work. He has become more selective in the visual representation allowing the detail to exist against a stark background be it white or colour. He has also started to collect awards for this new work.
