Glenn Hoyle was born in Lancashire, England in 1951. He always loved to draw and paint and at the age of fifteen, following the advice of his art teacher, Glenn decided to enroll at the Rochdale College of Art and studied there for the next three years. After graduating he worked as a graphic artist for an advertising agency in Manchester.
Always keen to travel, Glenn ventured overseas, visiting Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East and eventually arriving on the shores of Australia in the mid 70s for a working holiday. He returned to live permanently in Melbourne in 1981.
It was here that Glenn first thought about painting full time so he joined the Peninsula Arts Society, entered art shows and exhibited in local galleries. His first solo exhibition was a great success with every a painting being sold.
Since 1989 Glenn has worked as a professional artist and has been much sought tutor conducting classes in oils and water colour at the Peninsula Arts Society and the McClelland Guild of Artists, plus workshops and demonstrations throughout Australia. Glenn has won over seventy awards including prizes at Camberwell and Victor Harbour.
Working in oils, acrylics, water colour and pastels Glenn strives to capture the affect of light on this treasured land and coast line of ours. He is a member of the Victorian Art Society and the Australian Guild of Realist Artists.
